Justice Rising

A classic rock and metal covers band

Biography

John Ingham – Vocals

John InghamJohn’s vocal style has been influenced by artists such as James Hetfield (Metallica), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), and Geddy Lee (Rush). He spent many years practicing his singing skills informally, before joining Justice Rising to persue his ambition of performing live – an ambition which was almost prevented by an ear injury. Thankfully John has bounced back, bringing his enthusiasm and energy to the role of band front man.

Phil Wild – Guitar

Phil WildDespite the stigma of being a child classical guitar prodigy, Phil has spent the last 25 years mastering power chords and rock poses. He has been influenced by guitarists such as Tony Iommi , Dave Murray, and Nigel Tuffnel. Some say he can’t hear anything that isn’t in E Minor and that he lies in band biographies. He plays Ibanez and Kramer guitars, and makes them loud with a Line6 amplifier.

James Taylor – Guitar

James TaylorJames has played guitar from an early age, initially taking classical lessons, but later moving onto the electric guitar under the tuition of local guitarist and luthier Shane Haigh. His main influences are Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth).

James plays a selection of guitars from his collection including a Maison Superstrat, Fender ‘Hendrix’ Stratocaster and various Ibanez axes. He uses a Blackstar HT Stage 100 amplifier with a custom pedal board which includes a Crybaby Wah, Boss Chorus and Danelectro Overdrive

Malcolm Grieves – Bass

Malcolm GrievesMalcolm’s first gig was 1983, at a school concert, and since then has been in many gigging bands in the north-east. He’s also done some studio recording and session work, and over the last few years has been working on an album of original prog/space rock material.

Malcolm’s style has been influenced by bassists such as Geddy Lee (Rush), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath). His gear includes a Fender Geddy Lee signature Jazz bass, a 1981 Ibanez Musician bass, and a Trace Elliot Amplifier.

Mick Crossland – Drums

Mick CrosslandTrue to the old drummer cliche, Mick started out by teaching himself the guitar, but after finding that it wasn’t for him, decided to make the switch! After deciding to take up drums in late 2007, his enthusiasm for playing led him to join a band (which would later become Justice Rising) the following year.

Mick describes his style as influenced by Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy), Phil Rudd (AC/DC), Roger Taylor (Queen), and sometimes Jack Daniels! He plays a Mapex VXB 6 piece rock kit, with Sabian cymbals.
